It turns out that one of the things people really want to see on the UK Parliament website is the maps. And I thought they should be easier to find.

Official maps

The buildings and land around Parliament itself is called the 'Parliamentary Estate'. Parts of the Estate are open to public access.

These maps include information about public transport facilities and car parking.

If you have access to the Parliamentary Intranet, there are several more maps avaiable, listed on the w4mp site.

Maps hosted at the parliament.uk website are covered by Parliamentary Copyright.

The Parliamentary Estate is in the Congestion Charge Zone.

The House of Commons Information Office produces a Factsheet on The Palace of Westminster itself [PDF, 16 black and white portrait pages], which includes a plan of the first - or 'Principal' - floor.

You can also see photos in the UK Parliament Flickr account on a map.

If you don't visit in person and you've got Adobe Flash 9 installed, you might enjoy Parliament's virtual tours - or, if you're running Quicktime, these panoramas.
